Our Winter Season

Our first weeks of term see us on an intense journey working towards one of our most exciting programmes yet.

Reaching back to the 20th century, our concert celebrates composers Francis Poulenc and Ralph Vaughan Williams in a haunting yet radiant programme in the glorious setting of Newcastle Cathedral.

As we recover from a moving concert in November, we turn our attention to the festive season in collaboration with DCU.

DCU is Durham University’s Christian Union, an organisation which moves hundreds of students in the spreading of the gospel throughout our community. Honouring a long-standing partnership, our society will take to the Cathedral in Durham to celebrate the coming of Christ in our annual Carol Service — an event not to be missed.

Throughout the Winter Season, we work hard towards our Flagship project alongside Durham University Orchestral Society.

An unparalleled performance of Verdi’s “Requiem”, played and sung by one of the University’s leading orchestras and the largest choir in Durham. Joining forces with Tim Burke once more, and distinguished soloists including Hannah McKay and Leo Sanchez, this is one of the highlights of our musical calendar.
